Day 1-Caught the plane to Manila with a stop in Taipei. The airline is cutting back a little on some free items like no slippers and no peanuts this time. While in Taipei I took advantage of a free zen chair massage near the gate. It really relaxes you but make sure that you don't lose track of the time or you'll miss your connecting flight. Landed in Manila and found out the exchange rate is now at 50 pesos to the dollar. The airport pick up from Swagman Hotel was there waiting for me and it was a short ride to the hotel. I took the economy room for 1920 pesos a night. I booked the Fly the Bus for the next morning commute to Angeles City. I had dinner at Wendy's and the root beer really sucks. It taste like black licorice. Now it's time to head over for some nightlife. I checked with a taxi driver outside the hotel and he wanted 300 pesos to take me to EDSA but I was able to negotiate for 250 pesos. Being a Friday night the traffic was bad but I still wanted to get to EDSA. When I arrived there the security guard did a check of my belongings to look for cameras. The first bar I went in was Fire House. The line up was pretty nice and they had the best dancers of the smaller bars in the complex. I was there for happy hour so the beer was 55 pesos. After an hour then I went into Pit Stop and gave away all my chocolates there. I didn't see anything I liked there plus the GRO's were bugging me until they realized I wasn't going to buy them a drink. The next bar I went in was Bullets and Arrows. The bar was empty of customers so I was the center of attention in there. The mamasan brought over 2 dancers which I wasn't interested in but I bought them a drink anyway at 195 pesos each. The special drink price is 325 pesos so you have to be careful when ordering a ladies drink. The girl wanted 2500 pesos and I thought that was too high for an average looking body. I finally went into Cotton Club which is the biggest and probably better bar in the complex. The girls were all checking me out to see what kind of customer I was going to be. I settled down near the dance stage and it wasn't long before I was approached by a couple of GRO's. I brushed one away and concentrated on the prettier one. At first she wanted 3000 pesos but I negotiated for the 2500 pesos going price. I struck the deal and off we went in a 200 peso taxi to the hotel. I couldn't find any meter taxis outside of EDSA so not much I can do about that. I'll check out the breakfast buffet at Swagman for 99 pesos for hotel guests in the morning.
Day 2 Philippines-
Woke up early Saturday morning to eat my breakfast,
exchange currency, and check out of Swagman Hotel. I
got into the Fly the Bus 11:30 bus ride to Angeles. The
bus was full and I got stuck in the back seat which was
hot and felt cramped in like sardines. The bus ride was
a quick 2 hours and they dropped me off at the Central
Park Hotel. The hotel room rate went up to $29 a night.
I changed clothes and then headed out to get a few
items like water and a new phone. I went over to
Saver's Mall and picked up a used cell phone for 2000
pesos. I had to also buy a sim card and a 100 peso
load. The t-shirt vendors were all waiting for me to
exchange t-shirts with me. I started out the night at
the famous Margarita Station BBQ night. The waitress
messed up my order and gave me someone else's order as
I wanted the BBQ combo but got the ribs instead. My
first stop was Bunny Ranch. The line up on stage was
sub par. Nothing but jungle bunnies on the dance floor
but the waitresses bugged me so I bought them some
drinks due to boredom in the bar. The next bar I went
into was Camelot and the dancers weren't that great
either. I bought the waitresses some drinks at 150
pesos each. After that I hopped into Classroom 2 of the
Thailand fame. They had a party tonight with sexy
dancers and free Aussie BBQ. Now I wished I didn't eat
at Margarita Station tonight. The line up is only about
average. So far Angeles doesn't compare to the quality
of girls at Manila. I bought some 50 peso flowers to
give to the dancers which counts as votes to see who
wins. The ones that show their top got the most
flowers. Then the food came out and it was decent and
worth the wait for it. It's starting to get late now
and then I head over to the popular Champagne Club.
Inside the place is packed with dancers and customers.
I found a seat in the corner and gazed at the dancers.
So far they had the best dancers of the clubs I visited
so far in Angeles. I gave away some chocolates, bead
necklaces, and light sticks to the dancers. I finally
find one that I'll try to bar fine. I bought her a
drink or two and then pay the mamasan 1200 pesos. After
that I took her out for bar hopping at Brown Sugar. No
prospects at Brown Sugar so I won't be going back
there. I took the girl to my hotel room and all the
drinking got to me as I couldn't get it up. So, I let
her go early and gave her 200 pesos for the trike as
she left.
Day 3-
Got up in the morning after my disappointing night. I went to do the usual like changing money, eating breakfast, and checking e-mails. This morning I decided to check out the new Shoe Mart mall at Clark. It's a short walk from check point. The mall is really good sized and air conditioned. I picked up some pasalubong items from Goldilocks at the mall. Lots of stores and restaurants as well as a lot of shoppers. There's a movie theater complex of 6 screens. Maybe I'll check out a movie later. Next I went back to my room but fell asleep. My honey ko was suppose to meet me at the hotel this afternoon. It's around 7 pm already so I decided to go out for the night. Sure enough my honey ko was waiting outside since they wouldn't let her in since she didn't know my last name. I gave her some gifts to take home and then she wanted to go with me tonight. We went to get a shwarma and eat it in the first bar that we go into which was Classroom 2. The dancers look the same from last night except no party tonight. After that we went into Doll House. Lots of dancers but they don't seem too motivated-just standing on the dance floor. I was really disappointed with that club. I thought they would have a better show. Next we walked in the Blue Nile. The place was choked with dancers but they weren't too energetic. That club still pack them in though. We ended the night at Pasha. The bar is somewhat average with no real lookers on stage. Looks like I'll be stuck with the honey ko for the remainder of my trip.
Day 4-
Got up and went to the money changer. The exchange rate went up a little to 50.10 pesos to the dollar. Ate lunch at Chow King and met up with the honey-ko. She wanted 7000 pesos to buy another cell phone. I just bought her one last year but she says it's broken. After she bought the new cell phone she showed up with her mother and son. We took a look at the new SM mall at Clark which is a short walking distance before the gate to the base. I was impressed with the size of the mall especially when compared to Jenra Mall, Nepo Mall, and Saver's Mall. They have all the stores at SM mall that you'll find in Manila. I went a little crazy at Goldilocks and bought some more pasalubong to take home. I had to buy some groceries for my honey ko's family. It's really hard to keep a budget with a high maintenance girl friend with a family in Angeles. I had to go to the money changer a couple of times today. It started raining hard when we were ready to leave the mall so we ended up taking an expensive trike to keep from getting wet. Boy, the trikes want 100+ pesos for a short ride. My honey ko went home for the afternoon and will meet up with me later on for bar hopping. We'll comunicate by text messaging on the cell phone. Met up with my honey ko at around 7:00 pm. The first bar we went into was Camelot. It was an OK bar with mostly average looking dancers on stage. After that we went into Roadhouse to listen to rock & roll music and have some popcorn. The dancers there look the same as last year. Our next stop was Las Vegas. This is where the start of my spending spree begins. My honey ko saw her cousin working there (the same one I bar fined 3 years ago as a three some) so she wanted me to pay for her early work release of 1200 pesos. There was lots of buying drinks and lady's drinks because my honey ko wanted to buy all the mamasans a drink with my money. We took the waitress from Las Vegas with us to Saikai Lounge out on Perimeter Road. It's a change from the girlie bars on Field's Ave. Here at Saikai there's a 2 drink minimum which they bring right away. The cost is 75 pesos for each drink. I made the mistake of ordering San Miguel Light. Later on I'll explain why. The girls dance one at a time to a single song. They are in various stages of undress sometimes topless and even nude. All of the dancers there had nice bodies and looked attractive. If only the Field's Ave bars had more dancers that look like that. The crowd there is mostly Filipino as I was the only non-Filipino there. Next, the girls dragged me into Micado club near by. Oh no, it's a macho dancer club. Male Filipino dancers were dancing around in their bikini briefs exposing their pubic hair. There's a 2 drink minimum here, too, but cost 100 pesos each drink. The girls were having fun but I was ready to leave at anytime. We finished up the night at Nero's Forum on Field's Ave. This is where my honey ko used to work 2 years ago. She had me buy the 3 mamasans a drink as long as a couple of waitresses that served us. These were not the usual 150 peso drinks. They were drinking beer which is a double lady drink price at 300 pesos each. I'm really fretting about the size of the tab as I know it's well over 1000 pesos already. My honey ko's friend is really drunk and putting condoms over the beer bottles and other silly things like that. I'm getting drunk myself as I well went over my limit of beer for the night. We finally leave at about 2:30 am and I'm still crying over my nearly 2000 peso bar tab. We sent off the Las Vegas waitress on a trike and then went back to the hotel. As soon as I opened the door to my hotel room my honey ko fell immediately asleep in the bed. So much for a night cap.
Day 5-
I didn't do much in the morning and just did my usual morning routine. After I got back to my hotel I took a nap for short while. I'm still waiting for my honey ko to come back to the room. It's getting late now in the early evening and she still hasn't come back to the room. She's only sending me texts that she's in the trike. She can't be in a trike for 6 hours. Finally she shows up as I was ready to go out myself at 9:30 pm. It's my last night in Angeles and I don't want to waste it away. We go and eat at Kokomo's. The prices have really gone up since last year. The bill for our dinners cost 300 pesos. It sure is expensive to take a girl along with you. It's much cheaper to go solo. My honey ko then comes up with a headache so she goes back to the hotel room and lets me go out bar hopping by myself. She tells me not to bar fine any girls but how can I if she's in my room watching TV. I hope she doesn't fall asleep and lock me out of my room. So now I'm free for the rest of the night so I start my odessey at Misty's. Not much going on in there and the girls are boring. I walked down Field's Ave. to Insomnia. It's really slow in there until some rich customers come in there later on. All of a sudden these guys ring the bell twice for the ladies. All the girls go on the stage and the papsan told them to all take off their tops. I ask the waitress what was going on and she says that the customer paid to close the bar for a private party. I was already in there so I got to stay. I watched the action going on like the guy taking off his clothes and the girls rubbing against him. The girls were all screaming and all the girl's attention was focused in the customer's direction. I was getting ready to leave already but stayed around for another 30 minutes. The lights were also dimmed as well. The next bar I went into was Bar Hoppin'. It sure wasn't hoppin' in there. There were only a couple of customers in there and it was rather boring also. They served free popcorn and had a giant screen playing the music videos. I watched that more than the girls on stage. Next door at Checkers the place was dead, too, as the dancers were sitting down on the stage due to no customers inside. It's around 1:00 am now so I decided to spend an hour in La Bamba before it closes at 2:00 am. Here's where I have my fun but it also cost me a bundle. I started out by giving away all my nuts and chocolates here to work up the dancers. There's one crazy dancer on stage dancing topless. Two of the dancers come over to me and I bought them each a drink. Then the crazy dancer comes over and I also buy her a drink. Next the waitress wanted a drink and then the chain reaction continues. Shortly another round continues and I have to turn the away the other sharks. The crazy girl is all over me and hustled me into buy the 3 girls a third round. This is really starting to add up. I also fell down when the 2000 peso bill came at closing time. I finally got some in the club pictures of the dancers I was with. It's 2:00 am now and I darted into Champagne to see if my previous bar fine was still there. I ordered my drink and ask the mamasan for the girl. I found out that she was a GRO tonight instead of a dancer since she had sore legs from dancing. The mamasan quickly approaches me to see if I want to take her out since I'll done it before. I have the honey ko waiting for me in my hotel room so that's out. I finally staggered back to the hotel then I find that the gate is locked and the security guard is inside the hotel lobby sitting down. Luckily I had my cell phone with me and the number to the hotel so I called the front desk to open the gate. I called my honey ko from the hotel's phone to make sure she's up. I'm lucky she is so I'm able to get into my room. I take my shower and am horny like hell and then I see my honey ko sleeping now. I didn't get anything tonight, too.
Day 6-
This is the day that I head to Manila for my final night in the Philippines. I'll be going with my honey ko but I was in for a bit of a surprise. The taxi I hired from Action Travel for 2300 pesos showed up on time and I get into the cab with my honey ko. She then tells me she needs to go to her house to pick up her Mother and son. What!!! Now I have a feeling on how this is going to play out. We picked them up and head over to the Excecutive Plaza Hotel which had a special rate of 1650 pesos for the night. The clouds are starting to get dark and rain starts to fall due to the approaching of a typhoon that's suppose to make a direct pass over Manila. We arrive at the hotel and check in. We decided to take a walk over to Robinson's Mall. It's really starting to rain but we make it there before the heavy downpour. Looks like I'll be the one treating the family to dinner and such. My honey ko wanted me to buy her son a toy and then we walked back to the hotel in the drenching rain. We stay at the hotel for a few hours and I know that I won't be going bar hopping tonight until my honey ko says that she will go back to Angeles City with her Mother and son. We took the taxi to the Philippine Rabbit terminal for 150 pesos. Now I'm alone so I told the taxi driver to take me to EDSA. Now he wanted 300 pesos more to take me there. He drops me off at EDSA and I handed him a 500 peso note. Now I'll be looking for a girl tonight since my honey ko deserted me. My first stop in Pit Stop. Lots of potential but I want to look around some more. So I stepped into Fire House next. I see some dancers that I was interested in but I didn't pick one out. I finally went into Samba to see what's there. The bar is really small and also has a tiny stage but lots of girls around. I picked one girl with the help of the mama san. She turns out to be friendly and willing to go with me. I grabbed her and took another one of the over priced taxi back to the hotel. She gave me the full service and was well worth it. I won't be getting much sleep since I have to check out early for my flight out in the morning. To be continued as Day 7.......

Day 7- I wasn't expecting a day 7 but the events that unfolded led to an extra day in the Philippines. Well to continue where I left off, I caught a cab in front of the hotel and this driver ripped me off. My luggage was already in his trunk and he pulls out this book of official taxi rates and tells me it'll cost 585 pesos to the airport. What a rip off! I usually pay between 200-250 pesos for that ride before so I know this is bullshit. What can I do? He has my bags in his car already so I'm stuck with the overpriced ride. I gave him 600 pesos as I got out of the car at the departure level of the airport. I checked in at the ticket counter and they went through my hand carry bag and took out all my liquids and gels and disposed of them. There's several security checks along the way to the gate. We're waiting for our flight to come in but it's past our departure time and everybody's getting impatient. The rain is also coming down really hard with strong gusts of wind. They finally told us that the flight was cancelled due to the plane diverting to Kaoshung as it was unable to land in Manila. Then it's a mass confusion as they try to form us into groups based on destination. We were then told to come back tomorrow morning at 4:00 am for the rescheduled flight. They will hold our checked in luggage for us and we have to get a new boarding pass tomorrow. Now we were told to exit the airport. There was a big mass of people outside of the departure level trying to find a ride back home. It's a big traffic jam and it's impossible to get to a taxi as they were being mobbed by people looking for rides during the heavy rain and strong winds of the typhoon. After about an hour or so of waiting for a taxi I decided to go downstairs to arrival to look for a taxi. Sure enough they had a few taxis but the price is the airport price of 550 pesos. I'm desperate now so I take the taxi and told him to take me to Swagman. But shortly the taxi driver gave me some excuse that all the roads are closed and he knows a hotel nearby that I can stay at. I reluctantly agree and he takes me to the Carlston Hotel in the middle of a slum near the airport. That's an expensive short taxi ride there. He walks into the hotel and then comes out to say that they have a room for me. Unknown to me is that he took me there to get a hefty commission for bringing me to the hotel. I'm charged a ridiculous price of 3200 pesos for the night. The front desk told me that it's the only room available. The typhoon is in full swing now so I don't have much choice. I'm out of pesos so their money changer gave me 4800 pesos for my $100 bill. What a lousy exchange rate but I have no choice due to the typhoon. The elevator is broken so I walked up to my fourth floor room and tipped the bell hop. I later try to turn on the TV but it doesn't work. The plug is out because the TV is broken. It's hot inside the room so I tried to turn on the air con. It's broken, too. So I went in the bathroom to take a shower. Guess what? No water in the shower or the sink. I can't take a shower, I can't watch TV, I can't turn on the air con, I can't brush my teeth (but my toiletries is in my luggage at the airport), the toilet doesn't flush since there's no water, and I'm getting hungry. At least the light worked. I took a look outside and the whole neighborhood is without electricity. It's a massive brown out. So, I just went to sleep but I made a wake up call for 3:00 am. There was no wake up call but I luckily set my alarm clock to wake me up as a back up. I checked out at 3:45 am and there's only one taxi outside the hotel. He wanted 250 pesos for the very short ride to the airport. What can I do? I needed to get to the airport. There's total darkness at the check in counter. They were using flash lights to process our tickets. We go through immigration and then a watered down security check. This time they didn't check for liquids but they already took them yesterday. At least in the gate area there's some lights on. We boarded a 747 and there was a lot of empty seats due to the large size of the plane. We arrived in Taipei in less than 2 hours and now it's a 5 hour wait for the Taipei to Tokyo flight and then the flight from Tokyo to home. How I wished I had a gold card so I can go into the VIP lounge but I lost that privilege a couple of years ago. It's a boring wait for the flight. The plane was full going to Tokyo and then home. I got to spend an extra day in the Philippines but it wasn't very enjoyable and I got ripped off spending almost an extra $100 to do nothing. Now I see why I hate typhoons. |
