Getting back to Singapore
When it's time to head back to Singapore it's best to call up the ferry operator the day before leave to reserve a seat for your desired departure time.  You should have your return ticket that you bought in Singapore.  After checking out of your hotel on your departure day take a taxi to the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal.  The taxi fare should be less than Rp40,000.
After getting dropped off at the ferry terminal's entrance you walk through the door and proceed to the passport control area.  You may be greeted inside the entrance of the building by a lady who works for the JW Lounge which is a VIP room that costs S$5 to enter.  It's a good value with complimentary snacks and non alcoholic drinks, free wireless internet connection, comfortable lounge chairs, tables, reading material, and big screen TV.    The staff takes care of your immigration and customs formalities, check in your bags for you, secures your boarding pass, and collects the mandatory S$7 terminal fee for the ferry terminal departure from Batam.
About 15 minutes before departure time the staff calls you and they escort you to the gate  to board the ferry through a special exit to avoid the boarding queue.  The boarding is fast since it's open seating in the main cabin.
The takes about an hour to get to Singapore's Harbor Front Ferry Terminal.  When you arrive at the pier just follow the crowd off the ferry and proceed to the immigration building.  Be sure to pick up your bag from the conveyor belt before going through immigration.  After clearing immigration you then go through customs and have your bags sent through the x-ray machine.  When you're cleared you then can proceed to the nearest exit and look for the taxi queue.
